Motorola have announced their second 5 MP cameraphone. Motorola V66 is a slider handset, sharing a very similar feature-set with the company’s ZN5 candybar handset. Now Google researchers and developers have created an app that allows for voice recognition while using the search engine. You can get this app through the iTunes store and will enable users to say something like, “How many megapixels does the Olympus E-30 have?” After that app will then convert the audio to a digital file to be sent to Google’s servers and search engine. That should make navigating your way along Times Square much easier if trying to get from the Hard Rock Cafe to ICP.

Sources said that both Yahoo and Microsoft have speech recognition apps developed for mobile technology, with oneSearch and TellMe respectively. Google’s app is very accurate but that it’s far from perfect.

LG’s upcoming KC560 slider handset has been leaked. The design, however, does. LEDs can be seen on either side of the handset, next to the call/hang up key, and another one below the c button.

The KC560 also sports a gold trim, gold D-pad, select/cancel buttons, and keypad. Its retail price should be in the region of $300-350, before taxes and subsidies. Features of LG KC506 are as follows:

  • Connectivity: Tri-band GSM, GPRS, and EDGE
  • Display: 2.4″, QVGA resolution, showing up to 262 thousand colours
  • Camera: 3.2 MP, with LED flash
  • Memory: MicroSD card slot

Now Nokia has introduced 7 handsets, some of which are new, to each retail for under €100, for emerging markets. Some handsets come with two applications, specifically targeted at emerging markets, which are: Nokia Life Tolls, and, Mail On Ovi. Communications device maker LG Electronics Inc. and software giant Microsoft Corp. have signed a preliminary agreement for a “strategic collaboration” in mobile technology.

The move is seen as an attempt by Microsoft to counter the competitive threat posed by Symbian.
